Colour Clashes
Year follows year and still nothing, of any real consequence, is done about colour clashes.
When Essendon beat Melbourne in the 2000 Grand Final I turned the TV off about 20 minutes into
the first quarter because it was unwatchable. When is the AFL going to actually DO something?
The AFL used all their powers when censuring West Coast for bringing the game into disrepute
(the only club to do so, of course !!) and threatened to use the draft as a punishment.
The AFL used all their powers when appointing a WOMAN to the tribunal against the wishes of
the entire country.
The AFL used all their powers when instituting racial vilification laws which applied only to
Aboriginal players and all those white bastards can go and jump on their head. The AFL is
great at that sort of stuff BUT .....
West Coast v. Richmond 13th July 2008 - This match was impossible to watch.
The AFL administrators will not use the powers invested in them to address the issue of
colour clashes. They were weak when West Coast changed from yellow
and blue to a mish-mash of red, navy and yellow. Blind Freddie could have predicted
that there would be a clash with the EXISTING Adelaide colours. At a West Coast/Adelaide
night game at the WACA, in 2000, the crowd was walking out all during the game muttering about
the colours. There was very little cheering because no-one knew who had the ball.
The West Coast/Richmond game this year (2008) was spoilt by the clash of yellow/black and
yellow/navyblue and St.Kilda/Essendon was just a blur of red, black and white on television.

While I'm on the subject of colours: Who were the morons who decided to put umpires
into coloured shirts? Surely they would have seen that the idea was a disaster when two
Hawthorn blokes handballed to mustard coloured umpires a couple of years ago.
Umpires should be clad in white, the most neutral of "colours". Sending umpires out in yellow
shirts for West Coast matches is madness.
