AFL AwFuL Rules:
On Ground Advertising
There was a time when I would watch Rugby League replays on television at 3.00am.
(Yes, I know it's boringly predictable and they kick like girls but you must admire the
way they handle punishment) I was always struck by the shed in the middle of the
ground. A player would break free and run straight at the shed. "Look out,
Mate" I would cry but the the shed would flatten out and our man would be unscathed.
Yep, it was an optical illusion brought about by forced perspective as when Tom
Cruise runs effortlessly down a long corridor past some assembled midgets who make him
appear taller.
The reason, I thought, that Rugby League has the shed painted on the ground is:
1) Most NRL administrators are ex-players.
2) They've taken a few too many head high tackles.
Wow I thought, thank Cazali we don't have those ads on AFL grounds. Of
course, the AFL soon followed suit.
Auriontal finger painting
For a long time, I was so annoyed at the Aurion ad, I vowed never to buy an
insurance policy from them. After being better informed by the six year-old next
door I now state that I will not buy their motorcar.
When players run across the ad they get "lost" in the background. St.Kilda
colours seem to be the worst affected. Am I the only viewer having problems?

I hope the AFL is getting lots of money from Mr Aurion to compensate for my
diminished viewing experience.
